UNIVERSITIES TOUR
Australian Team’s Itinerary Plunket Shield selectors would have first call on players while the Australian Universities team is touring New Zealand, the board oi control of the New Zealanc Cricket Council decided on Saturday. The itinerary for the tour, submitted by Mr A. D Ward, of the New Zealand Universities’ Cricket Council, disclosed that most of the matches will be over the Christmas-New Year holiday period. The international fixture at Christchurch was placed before Christmas so that New Zealand Universities would be able to field their strongest possible team, and would not be weakened by Plunket Shield caHs, said Mr Ward. Approval was given for the tour. The itinerary will be: December IS and I®, v Canterbury at Christchurch. December 21, 22 and 23, v. New Zealand Universities at Christchurch. December 26 and 27, v. Otago University at Dunedin. December 20 and 30, v. Victoria University at Wellington. January 1 and 2, v. Manawatu at Palmerston North. January 4 and 5, v. Auckland University at Auckland, No Cricket In Other Centres Press WELLINGTON, Oct 29. Rain in the morning and again in mid-afternoon caused the postponement of all major sport in Wellington on Saturday, including cricket and inter-club athletics.
Rain also caused the postponement of cricket matches in Auckland on Saturday. Cricket also had to be postponed in Dunedin on account of rain.
