Yacht Hit By Freighter
Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 22. A yachtsman and his wife were thrown into the water from a 12ft catamaran when it was involved in a collision with an 800-ton freighter on the Waitemata Harbour on Saturday afternoon. The collision occurred as the freighter Pateke, arriving from Gisborne, moved in toward King’s Wharf to berth about 5.30 p.m. The occupants of the yacht were Mr and Mrs M. Stenson, of Parnell. Unable to turn round and pick them up, the Pateke radioed ashore for help, and a boat was sent. Neither was hurt. The battered craft was later towed in by launch.
