SIX PERSONS INJURED
Accident At Hangatiki (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Oct 22. An Auckland couple and four young Wellington women were injured, three severely, in an accident between two cars on the intersection of the Te KuitiHamilton highway and the Waitomo Caves road at Hangatiki late this afternoon. Four people were admitted to hospital at Hamilton tonight. They are:— Mrs Lyle Winnifred Lyon, 9 Hill road, Papatoetoe; her husband, Mr Edward John Lyon, of the same address; Miss Marie Cornford, 6 Liffey street Island Bay, Wellington; Miss Maureen Murray, of the same address. Their condition was not available tonight Those injured but who were not admitted to hospital are: Miss Mary Graham and Miss Jenny Taylor, both 6 Liffey street Island Bay, Wellington. The accident occurred at 5.15 pan. Mrs Lyon was travelling north with her husband as her only passenger. The other car which was driven by MisS Comford, had just turned on to the highway from the Waitomo Caves road. Misses Murray, Graham and Taylor were passengers in her car. Both cars were extensively demaged about the front and had to be towed away. An ambulance took Mr and Mrs Lyon and Misses Cornford and Murray to hospital, while Misses Graham and Taylor were treated for minor injuries and stayed the night at Hangatiki.
