LINCOLN C.W.I.

Birthday Party Held The Lincoln Country Women’s Institute held its birthday party recently in the Lincoln Community Hall. Mrs E. Carter welcomed a large number of members, friends and representatives of sister organisations. Members of the choir extended a welcome in the form of an original musical chorus. Two sketches, “Other Shoes” and “The Skinflint Boarding-house.” were presented, and the skiffle band contributed a highly-original interlude. Songs were sung by Mrs A. Van de Velden, and piano accordion numbers were played by Miss P. Reynolds. Dancing and games completed the entertainment, after which two foundation members, Mesdames N. Templeton and J. Moreland, lit the candles on the birthday cake. The candles were fanned out by Mrs H. Prebble, and the cake was cut by Mrs M. Bray, of the Canterbury East executive. Mrs Bray also presented trophies won during the year to Mesdames W. Page, I. Brown, and T. Anderson.
