HARNESS ON BABIES

Plimket Gives Advice

A recent tragic death should bring to the attention of New Zealand mothers the dangers of restricting young children in bed with harness. ”No restriction of any kind is advocated by the Plunket Society,” said the charge sister of the Christchurch branch of the society (Miss B. Helliwell) yesterday. “We used to offer a simple sleeping bag. but withdrew it many years ago on the advice of medical authorities,” she said. “If a child is restless, and inclined to toss off his covers, just dress him in warmer clothes and don’t worry if he does fall asleep on top of the bed,” she said.
