NEW BISHOP FOR POLYNESIA
Rt. Rev. J. Vockler, Of Adelaide (NX Press Association) NAPIER, Ort. 12. The Archbishop of New Zealand (the Mort Rev. N. A. Lesser) announced today that the Rt. Rev. John Charles Vockler, Assistant Bishop of Adelaide, had accepted nomination to the office of Bishop In Polynesia in succession to the Rt Rev. L. S. Kempthome. The date for the enthronement of the new Bishop is not yet arranged, but Btehop Kempthocne’s resignation will be effective from the day before the enthronement. Bishop Vockler was educated at Moore Theological College, Sydney, and at St John’s Morpeth. He was made deacon and ordained priest in 1948. In 1963 he graduated B.A. with first class honours in history. In 1966 he was awarded a Fulbright travel scholarship. He was consecrated Bishop in 1959.
