TALKS IN CONGO
Tshombe Would Meet Adoula (NX. Press Assn.—Copyright) LEOPOLDVILLE, Oct. 11. President Tshombe of Katanga will meet the United Nations civilian chief in the Congo, Dr. Mahmoud Khlari. today in an effort to arrange peace talks between Katanga and ,the central Congolese Government. Announcing this, Mr Evariste Kimba, the Katanga Foreign Minister, said that President Tshombe wished to meet the Congolese Prime Minister, Mr CyrUle Adoula, but did not want the United Nations to interfere with these talks. Dr. Khlari and Mr Kimba discussed a possible truce at a meeting in Leopoldville yesterday, the British United Press raid. Reports from Kamina said President Tshombe had appealed to all Katanga to unite for the defence of their country against the enemy. The unconfirmed reports said he had urged tribal leaders not to disarm as the enemy had not yet put down his arms. "Our truce with the United Nations is only temporary," he was quoted as saying.
