SELECTIVE SERVICE

All Training At Waiouru (JV.Z, Press Association) WAIOURU, October 5. The young men to be called for selective service in the Army will spend the whole 14 weeks in Waiouru camp, the Chief of the General Staff (Major-General L. W: Thornton) said at Waiouru today. After, basic training in the camp the men will receive training in subjects peculiar to the corps to which they have been posted. General Thornton said the men would have some chances to visit their homes during the training period irrespective of whether they lived in thp far south or far north. They would not be kept for’ the full 14 weeks without this leave. • The training staff would have to work out periods so that these men could take advantage of accrued leave to go home. The move would entail some cost.’ but it had to be met, he said.
