fNJf. Pm* Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, October 3 “The Times" has paid glowing tribute to the late Mr Essington Lewis, who died in Australia yesterday. It described the former chief of the Broken* Hill Proprietary Company as a “remarkable managing technician with splendid vision.
"In the purely technical field Lewis was exceptional. He was a very fine production engineer, with wide practical experience.” “The Times” said. “He was much honoured in his own country and an over the world.” The newspaper also paid tribute to his humanity. “Lewis was made a Companion of Honour in 1943. on the recommendation of a Labour Prime Minister (John Curtain). “The honour itself was a recognition of bis work as Direetor-General of Munitions and Aircraft Production, but the fact of its recommendation by a Labour leader was a recognition of Lewis's humane and responsible approach to the direction of what was a monopoly organisation,” the newspaper said.
