Matai Sails For Doubtful Sound

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Oct. 3. The Government vessel Matai will leave Bluff at 7 p.m. today for Doubtful Sound where a naval party will, establish if it is suitable for navigation by deepdraught ships.The six miles and a half tunnel tailrace from the Manapouri power project to serve the Bluff aluminium smelter will empty into Deep Cove at the head of Doubtful Sound.

It is planned to land much heavy equipment for the project at Deep Cove.
