Start Soon* In Wellington (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 3. Commercial television will be introduced in Wellington next month. At the same time the total weekly transmission from Channel One will be increased by 10 hours.

From November 1 transmission hours from Mondays to Saturdays inclusive will be from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., and on Sundays from 6 p.m. to 10 pan. Thus the total weekly transmission will be 28 hours instead of the current 18 hours. The first commercials will be telecast from Channel One on Thursday, November 2. and thereafter on three and a half nights each week. Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday of each week will be “full” commercial nights and Wednesdays "half" nights. Sunday, Monday, Friday and half Wednesday nights will have no commercials. On commercial nights an average of six minutes each hour will be devoted to advertising with most advertisements as 10. 20, 30 and 60second “spots." Casual advertising rates for “spots" will be high but reducible for contracts. Advertisers will have to meet the cost of preparing their advertisements for telecasting.
