ROYAL SHOOTING TROPHY
Burnham Results For London Hie results of an arduous shooting test at Burnham Military Camp during the week-end by 12 men of the Ist Battalion., Otago-South-land Regiment, who were competing for the Duke of Edinburgh Trophy, will this week be sent to Buckingham Palace. The men were competing against other British Commonwealth units of which the Duke is colonel-in-chief. The only other eligible Dominion unit is the Ist Battalion, Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Both regiments are territorial units. / .■ The umpire of the Burnham shoot was the adjutant of the Ist Battalion, Canterbury Regiment (Captain P. F. Hayes). The points scored by the 13 men were 1567. Although this is considered a creditable score for a territorial unit, the total may not be high enough to secure a top position when the full results became known late next month. The soldiers used the new F.N. rifles and Stirling submachine guns after carrying out exhaustive athletic feats Men of the Ist Battalion. Otago-Southland Regiment entered the competition once before, but were unsuccessful
