163 Visitors Will Promote N.Z. Travel

The biggest tourist promotion scheme ever organised to make New Zealand known overseas will begin today when 163 journalists, photographers, and travel agents start to arrive by Qantas Empire Airways for tours throughout the Dominion. The journalists will include editors and senior staff from Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaya; financial editors from Australian newspapers; and travel writers from other countries There will algo be television and still photographers. Travel agents are coming from Britain, Europe, South-east Asia and the United States. These parties will epend J® 10 travelling throughout the country at

toe expense of Qantas and the New Zealand travel industry. Their visits coincided with the first Qantas flights across toe Tasman to Wellington today, to Auckland and Christchurch tomorrow, to Wellington on October 10, and to Auckland on October IS.

All parties will criss-cross New Zealand ao that every part of toe country ia covered, but Australian travel agents wiU concentrate on the South Island. Three groups of these agents will enter New Zealand through Christchurch. Parties of Australian travel agents and journalists will arrive at Christchurch tomorrow and also visit Mt. Cook, Queenstown, Invereargill and Dunedia. A large American party will arrive in Christchurch <x» October 5 to cover the same itinerary and then go to Waitomo caves, Rotorua and Auckland, The same day an Asian party will arrive and travel from Christchurch to Nelson, Wellinggariro and Wellington.
