Navy Visit Postponed
(N ZJ>Ji -Reuter— CopyrsgM) WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 A visit by the American Sixth Fleet to Beirut next Tuesday has been postponed, a Navy spokesman said tonight The postponement was at the request of the State Department “in view of the international situation"
"It is quite clear that the situation which has arisen in Syria was a factor in this decision," he said. The fleet was expected to visit Beirut at some later stage, but a new date had not yet been fixed. American officials said i* was felt in the Department that a visit by the fleet to Lebanon so soon after the •hree-day-old Syrian rebellion might be misconstrued by world puolic opinion as an apparent form of United States pressure.
