Somes Island Rescue
(HZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. Seven people were rescued from Somes Island in Wellington Harbour by the police launch, Lady Elizabeth, early tonight. It is understood that those rescued had been fishing off the island during the morning when a wind blew up and forced them to seek cover. As the wind did not abate sufficiently to enable them to get back to their starting point this afternoon an emergency call was radioed to the wharf police from the island.
The police launch then rescued the stranded party.
