The Story Of Bow Belta.”— The Rev. Joseph McCulloch gave a talk entitled "The Story of Bow Belta” at a meeting of the Victoria League in Canterbury, held at the Royal Overseas League rooms on Saturday evening. About 50 attended. Specially invited guests included the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan) and Mrs Sullivan. Aanong the guests were representatives of the Royal Commonwealth Society, the English Speaking Union and the Royal Overseas League. Mrs J. O’H. Tobin welcomed guests and presented Mr McCulloch with a cheque from the Victoria League as a contribution to a fund for the restoration of the Bow Belta. CaXbolic Women—T h e annual Christinas appeal tor missions was held last evening by the Catholic Women's League. The guest speakers were Mr and Mrs F. J. A. Fox. of Christchurch, who spoke on The Americans At Home."
Business Women.—A talk on the United States and its people was given by Mr Murray Ireland at a meet-
ing of the Christchurch Business and Professional Women’s Club recently. A. Christchurch law student, Mr Ireland was a former American Field Service Scholar. His talk was illustrated with slides, shown by Mr lan Hooker. Mias Hazel Holmes thanked the speaker. The president (Miss E. McDavitt) presided. About 40 attended. Travel Clsb “West Africa, with Tubby Clayton” was the subject of a talk by the Rev. M. Underhill at the Canterbury Travel Club’s monthly morning tee meeting. Vocal items were given by Mrs Diane Parsons, accompanied by Mrs Mabel. Mason. The speaker and artists were thanked by Mrs A M Vile. Specially invited guests included Mrs Underhill wife of the speaker, and Mrs G. Creigh. of Napier. New members from other travel dubs were web med, and in-
eluded Mrs M. Brockett, Mr and Mrs' E. F. J. Campbell (Wellington), and Mr and Mrs C. R. Hawker (Southland).
Y.W.C.A. Board of Directero—A stall held at the Industries Fair by the Christchurch Young Women’s Christian Association realised £3l 5s for Y.W.C.A. work in Fiji it was reported at a recent meeting of the board of directors of the association. A World Fellowship luncheon held during the month had raised about £5 for world fellowship funds. Mrs D. P. Caird reported plans for a coffee party, to be held in Nov ’t, and for the Week of Pt., er and World Fellowship Week in November. The summer camp would be held from December 27 to January 8 for girls between 10 and 12 years of age. Two junior leaders would be exchanged with the Hamilton Y.W.CA. for the camp. Open house would be held on October 3 in Latimer Hall, when all clubs would display their activities.
