Indoor Bowls HUSBAND-WIFE TOURNEY

Kaiapoi Pairs Play Final J. Taylor and Mrs J. Taylor won the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association’s annual husband and wife tournament held at the Cowles Stadium yesterday. They are from the Kaiapoi R.S.A. club. In the final they defeated T. Coup and Mrs T. Coup, also from. Kaiapoi R.S.A There vere IM pairs entered, of which M qualified by winning three matches out of four in section play. At the fourth end in the final Coup killed the kitty to make the score 8-8 to Taylor. At the next Coup scored four to even at 6-aIl. From that stage Taylor went steadily ahead, with Mrs Taylor drawing very well. On the tenth end Coup again killed the kitty, and by. that stage he had lost all chance of winning. Results were:— Quarrtr-finals.—J. Rennie 9. J. Dunstan 3; J. Taylor 8. E Boat 5: A. Prebble 10. P Nee 1; T. Coup 8. F. Perham J-Semi-finals: Taylor 13. Rennie T; Coup 7. Prebble 5. Final—Taylor 18, Coup 7.

Snooker Title.— R. Walker (Fitzgerald House) won the Canterbury Amateur Billiards Association's junior snooker title when he beat R. Anderson (Post Office) by three games to nil. Although the games were evenly contested in the early stages, Walker proved more consistent on the colours and won easily.
