Nelson Trot At Westport
(From Our Oum Reporter) WESTPORT, October 1. Never further back than fifth. Mossman. a member of K. Purdoc’s team at Templeton, took over 100 yahds from home in the Olive Nelson Hand .cap Trot at the Westport Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday and won with something in hand from Bob Hanover, which tried to lead almost from start to finish. Elaine Salute held on for a useful third. Bob Hanover. Elaine Salute. Totara King, Mossman and Thrift were tire early leaders, with Dondaiier and Anahera also prominent. Bob Hanover looked like holding on until Mossman appeared on the scene, to win easily. Bob Hanover just as comfortably held off Elatne Salute, with Anahera. Carlisle, Dondaiier . and Nelson Ahoy the closest of the others. Lady Knight, placed ninth after three furlongs in the Elite Trot Handicap, came right through in the straight Ito win comfortably. It was a good performance by the Methven-trained pacer. The each way favourite, Anahera, which was always well placed, held on for a good second ahead of Nelson Ahoy, with Elaine Salute In fourth pl*ce. Dondaiier, Mossman. and Thrift were the cloaeirt of the others.
