QUERY WINS TWICE
Events At Stewart’s Gully
The former Finn skipper. A Lance, won the Waimakirirl Sailing Club badge competed for at Stewart's Gully yesterday. It was Lance's second consecutive win in two days. Crewing with him in the R class dinghy Query, which sailed, from the scratch mark on both occasions. was O. Brown.
R. E. Falklngham and M Abercrombie, in Impulse, gave Lance his only real competition yesterday, but lost their chance in a capsize. Results, showing handicaps and corrected times, were:—
Query (A. Lance and O. Brown), acr. 1:15:15. 1: Murmur (C. Holland and M. Andrews). 3min, 1:15:24, 2; Vickey (Don Mclntosh and R. Inwood), 3mln. 1:17:22, 3.
Impulse (R. E. Falkingham and M. Abercrombie) sailed from scratch and finished at 1:17:30. The other scratch R class dinghy Fact (Doug. McIntosh and L. Vlgers) finished at 1:18:9.
On Saturday. Query won the first race of the Stewart’s Gully pennant series by 40sec. Seven boats—four R's and three senior Cherubs—took part in the race which was sailed on an ebb tide and in a light south-west wind. Results were:—
Query (A. Lance and O Brown), 1:31:37, 1; Impulse (R E. Falkingham and M. Abercrombie), 1:32:17, 2; Fact (Doug Mclntosh and N Street), 1:32:22. 3 All boats were off scratch.
