Function For Referees
An end-of-season function was held by the Can’erbury Rugby Referees’ Association at the National Party rooms on Wednesday evening. The 'unction, arranged by the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, included items and toasts.
More than 150 persons, including members of the country associations, representatives of the Canterbury Soccer association and the St. John Ambulance attended.
The president of the Referees’ Association (Mr R. G. Condliffe) proposed a toast to the Canterbury Rugby Union. Mr Condliffe said relationships between the two organisations were excellent.
The. president of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union <Mr H. C. Blazey) said both associations must work as a unit to achieve the desired results. He thanked the referees for the service given during the year.
Mr T. A. Smith, who has refereed actively over the last 15 years, received a long-service medal.
