Indoor Bowls HAY TROPHY

Watersiders Win Tn a contest of high standard Lyttelton Watersiders won the Hay Trophy for the second year in succession when they beat A.N.Z. Bank by 8 games to 6- at the Linwood avenue School Hall last evening. The contest attracted record entries of 98 teams from many districts throughout Canterbury The result was in doubt until the final head when D. Stewart beat L. Tilley in the singles, 7-6 Lyttelton Watersiders, after winning two rinks, lost the advantage by losing three of the four pairs. At the beginning of the singles the games were 3-3. Watersiders then gained the advantage by winning four singles which left A.N.Z. Bank in a position of having to score points and win games as well This proved too much to catch up and Watersiders won on the last game Results (Watersiders’ names given first).—Rinks: A.
