BANK OF N.Z. BUILDING
A.A. On Widening Of Bottleneck
Another resolution urging that the new Bank of New Zealand building in Cathedral sauare be set back to allow ultimate widening of the bottleneck was passed by the council of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) last- evening. The president (Mr E. R. Casbolt) said this issue should be “pushed continually.” Mr F. W. Freeman supported this view. “It has always been called the bottleneck, with good reason,” he said.
“This question is still before the directors of the bank.” said Mr A. C. Perry. “Is this discussion of any use just now?”
“Give them a nudge,” said Mr Freeman. Additional workers tn the bank building and in others being extended, plus busier traffic, would aggravate the problems of the bottleneck, said Mr Casbolt.
