“SOLUTION LIKELY”
Present World Crisis (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 21. The Apostolic delegate to Australasia, the Most Rev. Dr Maximilian de Furstenburg said in Auckland tonight that he did not believe there would be a world war. “I am optimistic.” he said speaking on the present world crisis, “that it will be solved peacefully ” Archbishop de Furstenberg did not think that people were so corrupt that they would destroy everything with a nuclear war. “There are still many decent people in this world,” he said, “and If everyone was optimistic there would not be , s ?, mu ch fear in the world.”
Archbishop de Furstenberg said he wished to extend a message of friendship to the New Zea!fl nd on this, his first, visit. He will be in the country for a month meeting his bishops and people in the dioceses He said that through the ages, the Church had been threatened many times but had always survived He believed the Church would survive the present situation “Fourteen centuries ago it was the Mohammedans, today communism is the threat, but not the only one.” he said “War would not benefit anyone today—it would be completely detrimental to the world.”
