PHOTOGRAPHERS’ ASSOCIATION
Selection. Of Three Fellows (HZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. The annuel conference of the New Zealand Professional Photographers’ Association approved proposals for the selection of fellows and associates of the association. This is a further step towards raising the standards, and status of professional photography in New Zealand. The procedure approved is based on that of the Institute of British Photographers, which was studied by the first foundation fellow of the New Zealand association, the president (Mr A. G. W. Sparrow, of Auckland). Yesterday the conference elected three fellows, Messrs K. Niven (Wellington), G. Mannering (Christchurch) and F. Barta (Dunedin). With Mr Sparrow these three will appoint a further five fellows or associates to comprise an examining panel of nine.
Fellowships and associateships will be awarded annually to members of the institute who satisfy the qualifications panel. Applicants will be required to supply 20 separate prints, which must be their own bona fide work. Awards will be made only when the highest ehtical practices are maintained and the required photographic standards are reached.
