Youths For Navy Artificers

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept 20. Three young New Zealanders have been chosed by the Navy to undergo five years intensive training here and overseas as artificers, emerging with rank equivalent to a petty officer. They are David Jenkins, a pupil of Horowhenua College, Graeme Adams, of Christchurch West High School, and Robin Davey, of Hawke's Bay College. After a year in H.M.N.Z.S Philomel at Auckland, almost three years in Royal Navy technical-training establishments, and a year at sea. they will emerge as fully-qualified technician-tradesmen with the equivalent of petty officer rating.
