LIQUOR AT AIRPORT
Decision For Commission (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. Whether or not a restaurant at an airport would.be permitted to serve liquor with meals was entirely a matter for (he Licensing Control Commission, ‘he Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) said in the House of Representatives today. He was answering a question by Mr M. A. Connelly (Opposition, Riccarton) who reminded him that a restaurant licence was being sought for Christchurch airport. “The report of the Select Committee on Licensing recommended that no action be taken to provide for a special airport licence,” said Mr Hanan. “But it was silent on whether a restaurant, otherwise qualified for a licence, should be denied one merely because the restaurant was situated at an airport. “If a restaurant at an airport complies with the exacting standards laid down by the Licensing Control Commission, the question whether it should receive a licence is one for the commission.”
