QUALIFYING TRIALS

Gay Tartan’s ' Win

Gay Tartan was the most impressive of 11 horses to qualify at trials held at Addington yesterday. The track was very slow early in the day, but it improved quickly, although it was not fast for the first heat of the qualifying trials. Gay Tartan was a little slow at the start of his heat, but he was soon handy to Gold Medoro, which set a hot pace, taking 2min 9 4-ssec for his first mile. Gay Tartan ran on strongly and won easily in 3min 17 4-ssec for the 12 furlongs. Raced by Messrs N. Wilkins and A. Martin, he is trained by C. R. Berkett. He is a strong three-year-old colt by Meadow Chief from a speedy mare in Deveron. The fastest time in the other four heats was 3min 20 2-ssec returned by Great Credit in the fifth heat. Great Credit is a four-year-old gelding by Light Brigade from Nancy Lee, trained by F E. Newfield for Mr J. W. Brosnan. \ Results:—
