Beer, Tobacco Production

Beer production was lower in July than in June while production of tobacco and cigarettes was higher, according to the latest Abstract of Statistics. During July, 3.650,000 gallons of beer was produced, against 4.032,000 gallons in June. Production for the year now totals 29.417,000 gallons, against 29.192.000 in the same period last year. Tobacco production totalled 417,0001 b in July, compared with 413.001 b produced in June.

July production of cigarettes was 289 million. In June 274 million cigarette® were produced.

Business Personal Mr A. J. White, managing director of New Zealand Sisaikraft, Ltd., and Australian Sisalkraft Proprietary. Ltd., arrived in New Zealand by air on Tuesday for talks with officials of New Zealand Sisalkraft. Ltd., and to inspect Sisalkraft offices throughout the country. Mr White, also a director of Bates Multi well Bags, Ltd., another member of the Sisal-kraft-St. Regis International group, has been on a world trip, visiting Sisalkraft companies and allied businesses in many countries. - Mr W. L. Rolph has been appointed director for New Zealand and district traffic and sales manager, Auckland, for Pan American World Airways. The previous director was Mr J. H. Goding who returned to the United States last February.—(P.A.)

Directors of the reorganised Bay of Plenty Airways. Ltd., are: Mr L. L. Ford and Captain H. C. Walker (appointed by National Airways Corporation), Mr R. King (New Zealand Newspapers), and Mr F. W. Lysaght (elected by deferred shareholders). New Zealand Newspapers has yet to appoint one other director.
