D.S.I.R. COUNCIL

Meeting In City In November The advisory council of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research will meet in Christchurch at the end of November. It is believed that that this will be the first time that the full council has met in the city. The council is a group of eminent scientists and industrialists, practically all from outside the Government service. It meets four or five times a year, normally in Wellington. Recently, it decided that on certain occasions it would meet instead in one or other district, where the department maintains experimental stations, so that it could see what work was being carried out. Earlier this year, the council met in Auckland.

Members of the council will arrive in Christchurch on November 29, and stay until December 1.
