Germany
Sir,—Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery in Peking on September 8 advanced three steps towards relieving tension: Recognition of the People’s Republic of China; recognition of two Germanies; withdrawal of ail armed forces everywhere back to their own national territories. These statements made by a recognised authority on world-wide matters should not go unheeded. Certainly the Germans should never again be allowed to unite into one country. They have been the cause of too much misery. It is a blot on Britain’s history that she now has panzer troops training on her soil.—Yours, etc., CASHMERE. September 11, 1961.
