Parliamentary Salaries
Sir,—lt has been 'recommended that members of Parliament should receive increases in salaries. Old age pensioners want to know hdw they are going to get the extra money to pay these salaries. I suppose they do require more nourishment to blow off steam at each other in Parliament, than a pensioner with his princely income of 85s a week. “National Income” says he hopes the Labour members will refuse the rise in salaries. He must not fool himself. They will put their hands out and take it— Yours, etc., ANOTHER O.A.P. September 11, 1901.
