CAR HITS TRUCK

Boy Critically Injured (N.2. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept 3. A 14-year-old boy was critically ill in the Lower Hutt Hospital this evening with injuries suffered in a car accident on Saturday night. The boy. John Paul Bailey, of Peck street, Taita, suffered spvere’head and chest injuries when the car in which he was a passenger struck the steel tray of a parked car in High street Taita, at about 8.45 p.m. Doctors performed an emergency operation in an effort to save his life. The driver of the car, Mr John Goddard McCarthy, aged 20. of Rolleston street, Wellington, and Miss Susan Bailey, aged 20, of Peck street. Taita, were treated at the hospital and discharged. As police and ambulance men worked to move the injured, another vehicle struck the rear of the wrecked car, but its driver. Mr G. F. Black, of Pharazyn street. Lower Hutt, escaped injury.
