M Worrell to captain a team representing the rest of the world against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on January 19, if it can be arranged, the Melbourne “Sun-Pictorial" said today Mr 1. A. Johnson, secretary of the Melbourne ehib, said today that the club had asked the Australian Board of Control jf tbe M.C.C could stage the match It would commemorate the centenary of international cricket between Australia and England, which has its anniversary on NewYear's Day Nothing definite could be done until the elub heard from the board He believed that C. C Macdonald had sounded out a couple of English players to play in the match. The "Sun-Pictorial” said that other names mentioned to play for the rest of the world side include four great English cricketers—P B H May. M C. Cowdrey, F. S Trueman and J B Statham, provided the M.C.C. agreed The selection of the remainder of the world side would be eased by the presence in Australia next season of the West Indians R B Kanh-ai. G Sobers and W Hall, who had been approached to play Sheffield Shield cricket.
