The Try Of The Match

ONE OF THE FINEST TRIES scored by a New Zealand team for many a day began the scoring in the test against France at Lancaster Park on Saturday. Seven members of the team handled the ball tn the movement, which covered about 89 yards.

This magic eye camera sequence shows clearly how the defence was beaten. In the first picture, R. H. Brown, after receiving from T. N. Wolfe, has the ball. As he was tackled, he passed to V. Yates, coming in on his left Yates swung to his left to beat the French full-back, C. Lacaze. C, E. Meads was in support, but Yates passed to D. Young, with D. Connor racing up to Young's left

As Young was tackled he sent the ball on quickly to Connor, who has I. N. Mac Ewan close at hand. The next pass, however, was to I. J. Clarke, who sent on to D. J. Graham. The last pictures show A. Domenech’s despairing dive at Graham, and the scoring of the try.

This was a splendid try by New Zealand, but the pictures also show the magnificent effort made by Domenech. Be came back to be ready to tackle Meads, he ran after Connor, forced Clarke to pass, and made a gallant attempt to stop Graham.
