COMMUNIST AGITATORS
Influence In Islands
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 22. The Minister of Island Territories (Mr Gotz) was asked in the House of Representatives this afternoon whether there was any evidence that Communist instigators had had any influence in the island territories under New Zealand jurisdiction.
Mr J. Mathison (Opposition, Avon), a former Minister of Island Territories, quoted a press report saying that Mr Gotz had told a meeting of the Wellington branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society that Communist instigators were stirring up trouble in the Pacific area, including the Cook and Tokelau Islands.
Mr Gotz was asked to indicate the factual basis of his assertion.
