Mr Shand’s Attack

Sir,—l think I write more letters to you than any other citizen. Many of them hit the waste paper basket; but I do not complain. Your newspaper is not only excellent but a little too sympathetic with some of the letters. I do not approve of Mr Shand's attitude in connexion with the incident which led to the attack on Mr Rosenberg. Mr Bryce's dilemma is that he likes to form his own opinions and gets annoyed if "The Press” does not support them— Yours, etc., RALPH S. WHEELER. Timaru, August 8, 1881.
