LITERARY CIRCLE

Women’s Club Function

Mrs H. P. Wise presided at a recent meeting of the Canterbury Women’s Club Literary Circle. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs C. Shaw, whose subject was Delius, the composer. A bracket of songs by the same composer was sung by Mrs Helen Bennington, who was accompanied by Mrs W. E. Olds. After the afternoon function a buffet tea was arranged by the circle. Community singing was, led by Mrs Shaw and accompanied by Mrs N. Wilson. Mr Hunt, accompanied by Mrs J. H. Cocks, also'contributed vocal solos.

In the evening films of Hong Kong, Japan and countries in Europe which she had visited, were shown by Mrs Peter Kennedy.
