Terry Downes, of Britain, will defend his 1 world middleweight championship against Paul Pender in Boston on Saturday, September 23 Downes won the' titlerecognised in Europe. New York and Massachusetts, but not by the United States National Boxing Association —from Pender in London on July 11 when the latter “retired" after the ninth round. This will be the third encounter between the pair Pender won their first clash tn Boston in January when he opened a deep cut on Dowries’® nose.
