WHITEBAIT SEASON

Warning About Regulations Whitebait fishermen should make themselves acquainted with the regulations before the opening of the season on September 1, said Mr H. Jorgensen, the district inspector of fisheries, yesterday. The season will run until November 30. A person could use only one net which could be not more than 15 feet in circumference at the mouth irrespective of design, he said. The regulations require that when a net is in use someone must be continually in attendance. Scrim guides, or “go-bys.” cannot be used to direct fish into a net.
