CHARGES AFTER ACCIDENT
Negligent Driving, Failing To Stop <N Z Press Assnnatum > AUCKLAND, July 4. Arrested shortly before midnight last night at his home in Western Springs. David Edward Best, aged 47. a diesel operator, appeared before Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., today in the Magistrate's Court on charges arising from a fatal accident at Otahuhu on June 6. Best was charged with negligently driving a vehicle, thereby causing the death of Reginald John Farrant, failing to stop after an accident, failing to ascertain if anyone was injured after an accident, and failing to render all practicable assistance to the injured person. Best was represented by Mr A. W. Grove, who sought and was granted a week's remand. He did not plead to the charges. The Magistrate set bail for Best at £lOOO with either one £lOOO surety or two of £5OO.
