NEW BODY NOT FAVOURED

Regional Planning Authorities Though there should be dose co-operatibn between regional planning authorities and it would be valuable if representatives met occasionally to discuss problems of mutual interest, the formation of new organisations was not justified at present, the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority agreed yesterday. It made its decision after considering a smvgestion from the Whanearei Rerional Planning Authority that there should be a "steering commitetee to investigate wavs and means of co-ordinating and furthering the work and administration of regional planning authorities on a coordinated basis.” It would be advantageous for technical officers to meet when the need arose, provided meetings were not held too frequently and provided they were properlv organised and held for a definite purnose, the executive committee said. It did not consider that a steering committee was warranted.
