“Fair Chance** Over Berlin

July 3 There was **a fair chance" of America being drawn into a general war with the Sovie' Unirn over Berlin. the recently-retired United S'ates Air Force Chief of Staff General Thomas White, said on television last night. General White, in reply to interviewers’ questions, said he favoured at least a partial mobilisation, to bring the dangers of the situation home to the American people He said he would favour mounting a ground attack ra*-her than another air lift to relieve West Berlin, if the Soviet Union severed access routes from West Germany.
