Traffic Lanes
Sir.—l see that the Automobile Association (Canterbury) wish to have the mark, ings chanced at the Clyde and Fendalton roads intersection. To drive ahead from al! lanes is standard procedure in other countries Therefore should we not accustom the New Zealand driver to handle the situation inrtead of adapting ft to him' 1 We would then avoid that frustrating line of cars in the right-hand lane, while the left remains enticingly, but quite legally, empty. If we are to make full use of our roads, continuous-lane driving must eventually come here, and New Zealand drivers will, with practise, learn to be alert enough to cope with it. as motorists all over the world have had to do. —Yours, etc., HYDE PARK CORNER.
