SHEARERS’ AWARD
Increased Wages , The rates for by i machines has been increased by lOd to £3 12s 4d a hundred by the Arbitration Court in its new award for shearers and shed hands. Hand shearing rates have been increased by lid to £4 6s fid a hundred, with rations. The shearing of pregnant ewes has been increased by lid to £3. 19s 7d a hundred with machines and is to £4 15s 5d a hundred by hand. Shed hands have received an increase of Jd an hour to 6s 4d and pressers a similar increase to 6s 6d. Cooks, for 12 persons or less, will now receive £2 0s 3d a day. an increase of 6d. Cooks' assistants will receive an extra 6d an hour to £1 10s 4d a day. The award, which embodies the terms of settle-! ment reached in. Conciliation! Council, came into force on! June 29.
