OTAGO DENTAL SCHOOL

Ventilation System Annoys “The Press" Special Service DUNKDIN, July L Staff and students of the new dental school at the University ot Otago are annoyed about its “economy’’ ventilation system. Costing about £4OOO for the whole building, the system is basically sucking out hot air. At the same time, the fans are making too much noise. Students at lectures describe it as “something like a motorcycle starting up.” The dean (Sir John Walsh! says the noise confuses students while the lecturer is talking. The system is not coping efficiently In rooms where lange amouwts of steam ate generated by sterilisers. The school is appealing for a system on the original design—a scheme costing about £12.000 which blows in cool air, rather than sucks out hot. This had been modified by the Government for economy. The district architect of the Ministry of Works. Mr W. A. Garth, was not available for comment.
