KAIAPOI JAYCEE PROJECTS

Beach Outing Held For Children About 60 children from the Methodist orptnanage at Papanui were taken for a motor outing to Lekh.fi eld Beach recently by members of the Kaiapoi chapter of Jaycee. Most of the children had tea with their hosts before returning to the orphanage early in the evening. About 25 cars were used to take the rihildiren, wiho were included with family groups. Organised by Mr J. Pearce, this was one of the many pro. jerts that had been undertaken by the chapter. In another project 300 bags of wood were delivered one Saturday to deserving cases in the town. The chapter has received a number of letters of appreciation for this work, which was organised by Mr D. Riley. A regional conference at Ashburton was attended by seven members from Kaiapoi, when group training was a part of the conference. Representatives attending the conference were Messrs O Chambers. W. Bell. N. Smith, P. Wheeler, G. Harkness J McKenzie, and B. Williams. The national vice-president, Mr D. Fine, visited the chapter recently and spoke on various asoects of Jaycee activities. The club has decided to send a representative to the national conference at Rotorua later in the year.
