New Cut In Tariffs

(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) STRASBOURG, June 30. The European Parliamentary Assembly yesterday voted a 10 per cent, lowering of customs duties to speed effective functioning of the Common Market. British United Press reported. The supplementary reduction was set by the Assembly to affect trade between the six nations (France. West Germany. Italy. Holland. Belgium, and Luxembourg* by the end of 1961. The assembly also voted to put political policies increasing the effectiveness of the Common Market into effect as soon as possible. The French president of the six-nation Euratom pool executive (Mr Etienne Hirsch) warned that if Britain joined the Common Market it must not lead to a “dilution and a diminution of reciprocal obligations?’ Strike Ends.—Strikers at a mass meeting held at the Ford Motor Company’s Dagenham plant today voted to return to work next Mon. day.—London. June 30.
