Rugby FIJI BEATS VICTORIA
26-12 Victory In Bright Game (N Z.P.A.•Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 28. The touring Fijian Rugby team beat Victoria 26-12 in the last State game of its Australian tour at Olympic Park today. The Fijians led 13-9 at half-time. The third and final test against Australia will be played at Melbourne on Saturday. In a bright match before a crowd of 2000, the outstanding Fijian was again the giant winger, J. Levula, who scored 10 points with a try, a penalty goal and two conversions. After a sluggish start, with the Victorian forwards dominating the early play, the Fijians fought back and in the later stages ran through their opponents, scoring five tries to one by Victoria. Victoria’s top scorer was the full-back. R. Cowper, the son of a former Australian captain, D. Cowper. He kicked three penalty goals.
