HENRIETTA TIARKS
London Society Bride (By SUSAN VAUGHANI LONDON. This has been such a vin* tage year for Royal weddings that the qualities of several non-royal brides have been overshadowed, I am thinking particularly of Henrietta Tiarks. now on honeymoon with the Marquas ot Tavistock. Without competition from the Duke of Kent’s wedding, ♦his would undoubtedly have been the “wedding of the year.” That was the way Henrietta planned it, and she had planned it for a long time (the engagement was announced lest year). It was just bad luck that the Royal wedding came along to spoil Took Charge As it was, ahe did a splendid job of wedding organisation. It is not generally known that Henrietta took complete charge of the organisation at the wedding. j She chose the church, St. Clement Danes. in the Brand, London (not a society church, but a very: beautiful one). She arranged for coaches to pick up the guests after the wedding (individual cars would have caused a traffic jam). She planned lhe reception for 800 guests. She even arranged for the London evening papers to have advance pictures of her in her wedding dress because the wedding was too La'e for their last editions.
The Marquis of Tavistock, son of the Duke of Bedford, has an ancient title. His bride has the beauty of her actress mother and the wealth of her banker father. At their tender age of 21, ♦hey have money, good looks and status—the world on a string.
