DREDGEWORKERS’ NEW AWARD
Increases Up To 22s Weekly Granted (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, June 23. Complete agreement on a new award for dredgeworkers has been reached in conciliation proceedings at Greymouth, and wage increases, from Ils lOd to 22s a week, were granted. The new wage rates are retrospective to last Monday They embrace a rise of Id an hour, with incorporation of the 24 per cent, general orders. Oilers’ rates of pay have been increased by a further ‘id. The new award, which has a term of 18 months, was decided before the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr S. W. Armstrong, of Christchurch, and assessors for the employers were Messrs H. F. Rutland (advocate), W. Bryce, J. W. Hannan. R. Collins (Greymouth), F. Forrester (Dunedin) and D Smart (Alexandra): and for the employees Messrs J. E Laing (advocate, Greymouth), W L. Whitiskie (Hokitika), R. Little. H. N. Wafer. J. C. P Muir. J Thomson (Kumara), and H Meehan (Alexandra). The award covers Westland, Otago, and Southland.
